Nicolas Gulino
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and grew up in Montreal where I live with my wife, two children and our Great Pyrenees Mountain dog.
I studied at McGill University, the University of Oregon and the Université de Montréal, and hold degrees in anthropology, literature, and education and have received training in film at the Canadian Screen Training Centre, Main Film, and the Summer Institute of Film and Television in Ottawa. I am also a Canada Council for the Arts production and travel grant recipient, and my films have screened at venues around the world. From my earliest productions, I have been drawn to bringing people’s stories to life using the unique language of film to craft a timeless visual narrative.
As a parent to two kids (and a giant dog!), I know how difficult it is to find the time to sit down and sort through family photos. Time flies, life gets in the way. When you find unlabelled photos in a box you start wondering, asking questions… Who is this person? Where are they? Is that baby in the photo my mom!? What’s the story behind these photographs? If only they could talk…
After taking stock of over a decade of film-making, I realized that I have always been fascinated by visual narratives.

- We work closely with you to create the right structure, style, and tone for your film. We can discuss many creative options.
- We take the time to listen, so you may confidently and comfortably share your story in front of our camera.
- The finished films can take on many forms, and can include interviews, voice-over narration, as well as dynamic photo and video montages.
- We can arrange to film and incorporate other footage, including mises-en-scènes (staged) segments.
- We can interview one or more people, for example, you and other members of your family sharing a memory together.
- Depending on your goals and budget, we can also incorporate licensed or royalty-free graphics and soundtrack options.
- No two projects are alike; we tailor each film to capture the life stories you want to share.
Your Story, Your Film!

- You have full creative control over the final product. Always.
- Any non-digital photos you wish to include in the film can be carefully and respectfully scanned in your presence so they never leave your possession.
- During editing, all footage is stored safely, is never shared, and never leaves our production suite.
- Confidentiality is assured. During the editing process, we work with the footage but do not share it with anyone. Once the project is completed, we give all the material to you, including all the “raw”, unedited, footage. This is your story, your film. Only with your express consent, may we ask to use segments of a finished film for our production gallery.
